Disney Fantasia Live

Disney crown jewels accompanied by Czech National Symphony Orchestra

Disney Fantasia—Live in Concert is a stunning display of what Spinningplatters.com calls, “the emotional storytelling power of classical music and the wide spectrum of beauty and characters that animation can provide.”

The program, built on the crown jewels of Walt Disney’s original Fantasia and Disney’s Fantasia 2000, features live accompaniment by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ted Sperling, making for a magical evening of sound and vision.

Fantasia, released in 1940, was a pioneering merger of music and animation, which created a powerful legacy while becoming one of the best-loved films of all time. Fantasia 2000 hewed to a similar path of using a classical music soundtrack, but added a shimmering blend of old and new technologies to the visual aspect of the equation.

Elements of both films—shown in high definition—join in the onstage/onscreen celebration of Disney Fantasia—Live in Concert.

Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker Suite” is included, of course, alongside other iconic moments from Disney’s stunning footage, such Mickey Mouse’s indelible magical dabbling in Dukas’ “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” and the mythical unicorns and winged horses that accompany Beethoven’s ‘Pastoral’ Symphony.
