8 p.m. Saturday, May 7, Proctors
The Nobodies of Comedy, a touring talent showcase of young comedians, is coming to Proctors, 8 p.m. Saturday, May 7. Tickets, $28, are available at the Box Office at Proctors, 432 State Street, Schenectady; by phone at 518.346.6204; and online at proctors.org.
Touring since 2002, the Nobodies of Comedy features “the funniest comics you’ve never heard of.” The show is produced by Michael Mills of Mills Entertainment, who hand-picks the most talented up-and-coming comedians from across the country. “The result,” says Mills, “is an incredible night of hilarious comedy.” The line-up for the upcoming Schenectady performance includes Jerry Seinfeld-influenced funnyman Tony Deyo; Rochester native Steve Burr; Liz Miele, as profiled in The New Yorker; Mike Birbiglia tour mate Matt Bergman; and Tim Krompier, who boasts “the sly grin and rage of a 30-something rabid frat boy on an insult spree.”
The collective credits for these “Nobodies” include appearances on Comedy Central, David Letterman, Jay Leno and Craig Ferguson to name a few. While not household names yet, these hilarious young comics are poised for comedy greatness.
Past Nobodies of Comedy alumni have gone on to enjoy significant success. Included in this group are Josh Blue, winner of season four of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and Christian Finnegan, a commentator on VH1’s Best Week Ever.
