Mamma Mia! rocks Capital Repertory Theatre

Popular ABBA musical plays to over 10,000 fans

ALBANY, N.Y.—AUG. 21, 2017—The popular Broadway musical, Mamma Mia! featuring a score filled with classic hits from ABBA, was recently made available to regional houses, following a series of national tours.

Capital Repertory Theatre was one of the first to produce the show, finishing a five-week run, starring Lyn Philistine, Sunday, Aug. 13.

Mamma Mia! proved a hit with subscribers as well as theatre fans throughout the region, many of whom rush to the Berkshires during the summer.

Over 38 performances, theREP’s Mamma Mia! helmed by Producing Artistic Director Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill, played to 10,120, making it the second most successful title in the downtown theatre’s 36-year history.

“This show is so fun,” says Mancinelli-Cahill, “and the timing was right. We were thrilled to catch the show so early in its regional history and offer it to our friends for some summer fun at theREP.”

Only Menopause the Musical, which was staged with longer runs in both 2007 and 2008, drew more patrons to Pearl Street.

“Hot flash!” jokes Mancinelli-Cahill. “We’ve still got it!”
