Baklava Express Brings Global Fusion Sound to Proctors’ Passport Series
SCHENECTADY (March 8) — Proctors Collaborative announces that Baklava Express, an electrifying New York City-based fusion ensemble, will perform 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 13 at the GE Theatre at Proctors. The concert is part of the Passport Series — Music Haven at Proctors Collaborative, which celebrates music inspired by cultures from around the world.
Led by oud player and composer Josh Kaye, Baklava Express delivers a bold, cross-cultural sound. The ensemble blends original compositions rooted in the musical traditions of the Arab world, Turkey and Armenia with influences from Ashkenazi and Mizrahi folk music. Drawing on the diverse backgrounds of its members, the group creates a vibrant tapestry of global rhythms and melodies that continues to captivate audiences here and abroad.
The Passport Series invites listeners to experience the world through music, spotlighting artists who bridge tradition and innovation. Baklava Express embodies the spirit of the series with a dynamic performance that celebrates cultural connection, exploration, and the shared language of sound.
