Group leaders get special access and discounted prices to shows at Proctors and theREP

SCHENECTADY–With work taking up so much of our time, we often spend more hours with coworkers than anyone else. That’s why finding moments to connect outside the daily grind is so important. Ashley Glassford, a group sales leader for Proctors Collaborative, makes it a priority to do just that — help her coworkers easily access affordable live theatre together.

Glassford works at GE Aerospace Research, and when she took the job two years ago, she was looking for ways to meet new people. She became a part of the Whitney Club’s entertainment committee – that’s where she began to gather her coworkers to see shows at Proctors with discounted tickets and a night out with no hassle.

“It’s really fun to bring people together that maybe wouldn’t have normally sat together or that I normally wouldn’t have sat with. It’s cool to know that I’m helping people get a discount to a fun night out for themselves, their families, their friends, and helping them do something fun too,” Glassford said.

Group sales leaders work with Proctors Collaborative to sell tickets to upcoming shows. These leaders are able to reserve and purchase tickets to most performances before the general public–enabling their groups the best seats– as well as up to 20% off ticket prices and 4% off processing fees.

“Proctors makes it very easy and are a lot of fun to work with. Even just having the virtual tickets, it’s so easy for us to disperse them out to our staff. I’m able to just get them out super-fast. The whole process from A to Z is mega easy. If anyone wanted to be a group leader, it’s not hard. It’s a little bit of a time commitment on our part with our jobs and everything, but if people wanted to do it and make the time for it, it’s so much fun,” Glassford said.

Glassford’s group attended “A Sherlock Carol” at Capital Repertory Theatre this season, most of the KeyBank Broadway Series at Proctors, and will see “Beauty and The Beast” in July. Their group hovers around the 10-person minimum, but “depending on the popularity it might go up from there.”

“Proctors is beautiful and has a lot of history. It almost makes you feel like you’re back in time a little bit. And I love that about it. It’s very pretty and I like sitting there and being in a show. The seats are very comfortable and makes you feel like you’re on Broadway,” Glassford said.

“I liked that Capital Repertory Theatre was small, but it’s cozy and cute. The show was very intimate, and I liked that they were completely different vibes from each other. A completely different experience from when you go from one to the other,” she added.
