Open Stage Media elevates local voices independently and unfiltered

Important conversations are brought to public access

ALBANY—Open Stage Media is an integral community partner bringing the public important information about local news. Recently, they brought Albany’s Mayoral Candidate forum to their public access channel.

The forum featured Dorcey Applyrs, Dan Cerutti, Corey Ellis, and Carolyn McLaughlin with Andrew Neidhart as moderator and was hosted by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and co-sponsored by The Albany County LWV.

“As an independent community media operation, OSM undertakes this work as part of its mission to provide public programming to the Capital Region, free from commercial or governmental influence on its content,” Program Manager Zebulon Schmidt said.

Capital Repertory Theatre opened its doors for this important conversation June 3. The forum appeared on public access channels throughout the month of June, and is still available to watch on the Open Stage Media streaming app on Roku, AppleTV, and Amazon FireTV.

OSM works to lift the voices of our neighbors, preserve local history, and highlight the intrinsic values of the Capital Region. Some highlights of their community work include:

Capital Region Today: Now entering its 27th year, Capital Region Today started in September 1998 and has been running weekly ever since. Hosted by Ann Parillo, the show celebrates the Capital Region and outlying areas with an eclectic and interesting line up of guests.

The HOMES Podcast: Produced in coordination with the city’s H.O.M.E.S. (Home Ownership Made Easy in Schenectady) initiative, this podcast looks at market changes, purchase opportunities, property management, and other topics of interest to current and future homeowners.

The Carla Page Show: A longtime staple in our community, Carla Page provides an informative and entertaining television program with a variety of special guests.
