SSSO Returns to Proctors to Record Third Virtual Concert

Like “Poinsettia Pops,” recorded Dec. 2020, and “Bach to Basics” recorded Feb. 2020, “Quasi Fan Tutte” will be recorded on the MainStage at Proctors with no audience. The spelling of quasi is not a misprint. According to Artistic Director Glen Cortese, the SSSO’s original program included a full concert opera, which had to be canceled due to the pandemic.

“Quasi Fan Tutte” is an adaptation of the Mozart opera, “Cosi Fan Tutte” and will feature members of the orchestra along with six soloists.

  • Suna Gunther, College of St. Rose faculty as Dorabella
  • Sylvia Stoner, Skidmore College faculty as Fiordiligi
  • Casey Gray, College of St. Rose faculty as Ferrando
  • Thomas Gunther, College of St. Rose faculty as Guglielmo
  • Mikenzie Matheson, a student at the College of St. Rose as Despina
  • Atticus Rego, a student at Skidmore College as Don Alfonso

In keeping with the Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony’s commitment to partnering with local arts organizations, the soloists are all drawn from the vocal music programs at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs and the College of St. Rose in Albany.

Artistic Director Glen Cortese and several of the performers will be guests on “Capital District Today,” on Wednesday, May 5 so be sure to tune in.

Like previous virtual concerts, tickets will be available through the Box Office at Proctors. The concert video is expected to be available in mid-May.
