Proctors Celebrates 100 Years with $1.00 Movies and a Holiday Food Drive to Benefit the Sycamore Collaborative

SCHENECTADY (Nov. 3) — A century of movies, memories, and community comes together at Proctors with a special $1.00 movie series celebrating the theater’s 100th anniversary season. Sponsored by MVP Health Care and Price Chopper/Market 32, the series invites audiences to experience the magic of the movies on the big screen for just $1.00 while supporting a holiday food drive benefiting the Sycamore Collaborative.

Since opening its doors Dec. 27, 1926, Proctors has been a gathering place for generations of moviegoers. Originally built as a vaudeville and movie palace, the historic theatre continues that tradition with affordable screenings in the GE Theatre, offering audiences the opportunity to revisit cinematic favorites and discover films on the big screen.

Since Sunday, Nov. 1, MVP Health Care and Price Chopper/Market 32 have partnered with Proctors to collect nonperishable food donations for the Sycamore Collaborative, helping support individuals and families experiencing food insecurity throughout the Capital Region. Donation bins are located outside the GE Theatre, making it easy for moviegoers to contribute while enjoying a night at the movies.

As an added thank-you for supporting the community, patrons who bring a nonperishable food donation will receive 10% off their next Proctors show. The initiative brings together three community partners to celebrate the holiday season through affordable entertainment, generosity, and a shared commitment to making a difference.

Upcoming screenings listed on the Proctors movie calendar include Wes Anderson’s “The Royal Tenenbaums” 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5; Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed” 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10; Billy Wilder’s “The Apartment” 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10; Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Phantom Thread” 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22; and “Southern Comfort” 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21. Additional films will be announced throughout the centennial season, giving audiences more opportunities to celebrate 100 years of movies at Proctors.

The $1.00 movie series is one of several special initiatives honoring Proctors milestone anniversary, celebrating the theatre’s history while creating new memories for the next generation. The series brings the community together for an affordable night of entertainment while helping neighbors in need.

Tickets are available through the Box Office at Proctors in person, by phone at (518) 346-6204 Tuesday-Saturday 12-6 p.m., or online at atproctors.org.
