Civic Engagement
Our mission: Through arts and community leadership be a catalyst for excellence in education, sustainable economic development and rich civic engagement to enhance the quality of life in the greater Capital Region.
From creating new works for the American stage to supporting a high school team participating in a space mission competition, Proctors is engaged in the local community and the region in ways small and large.
One of our newest endeavors is creation in late 2016 of The Alt, a regional alternative newspaper and Web site, with two other partners (Overit and the Daily Gazette). It covers arts and entertainment with a focus on the region’s creative economy. And Proctors is one of a number of partners now looking at the follow-up to last year’s Breathing Lights, with an eye on how to make many of the 2,800 vacant homes featured in that public arts project come alive again.
