Chess on State Street
Casual games and free lessons in the summer.
There’s lot’s to do in downtown Schenectady at lunch time.
Depending on the day you can hear jazz, shop the farmer’s market or, during the summer, play a pick-up game of chess.
Starting at the end of June, experienced players and novices gather under the marquee at Proctors for chess and conversation.
Then on the last Tuesday of summer, the program goes out with a bang; a blitz tournament of five minutes rounds.
Organized and run by the City Mission of Schenectady and sponsored by the mission and Proctors, Chess in the City is just one of the reasons to love Schenectady.
