Broadway legend headlines “A Night of Magic” gala for Capital Repertory Theatre, Proctors

Pretty Much The Best Comedy Show is celebrating their three-year anniversary.

SCHENECTADY—Stephen Schwartz, the Tony Award®-winning composer/lyricist of Wicked, Pippin, Godspell and other Broadway classics, headlines a Night of Magic, a gala for Capital Repertory Theatre and Proctors, 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at the Massry Center for the Arts at the College of Saint Rose.

Schwartz will be joined by Broadway stars Michael McCorry Rose (Wicked, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder) and Liz Callaway (Miss Saigon) in a program of songs from Schwartz’s pen.

Along with his major musicals, Schwartz has also provided many songs for Hollywood, in classic films such as Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt and Enchanted.

In addition to his six Tony nominations, Schwartz has won three Grammy Awards®, Three Oscars® and the Drama Desk Award for outstanding lyrics. In 2015, he received a special Tony, the Isabelle Stevenson Award, for his commitment to serving artists and fostering new talent.

A Night of Magic will benefit The School of the Performing Arts at Proctors and theREP, which provides education and programming across the Proctors Collaborative, serving over 45,000 students annually.

Festivities begin with food and drink at 6 p.m. followed by the 7:30 p.m. performance by Stephen Schwartz and Friends.
