Lead Performer Nominees Announced for 10th Annual High School Musical Theatre Awards at Proctors

SCHENECTADY (April 21) — The Collaborative School of the Arts is thrilled to announce the final nominees for the 10th annual High School Musical Theatre Awards 7 p.m. Saturday, May 16 on the MainStage at Proctors. The ceremony will celebrate the past 10 years of local high school musical theatre and feature the 25 schools that registered from the Capital Region and surrounding areas this year. A new addition this year, the HSMTA will be hosted by Apollo Levine from “MJ the Musical.”

At the beginning of the month, the CSOA previously announced the nominations for Backstage Excellence, Outstanding Student Orchestra, Outstanding Choreography Execution, Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding Musical Tier A, Outstanding Musical Tier B, Outstanding Musical Tier C, Outstanding Supporting Performers, and the callbacks for Outstanding Lead Performers.

These students have gone through callbacks and the CSOA has announced the top 10 students nominated for Outstanding Lead Performers. Each of the two categories will have five nominees. Two of those students will be selected to attend the National High School Theatre Awards/Jimmy Awards in New York City in June. Previous participants of the Jimmy Awards include Broadway notables Eva Noblezada, Reneé Rapp, Andrew Barth Feldman, Annabelle Duffy, McKenzie Kurtz, Casey Likes, Jasmine Amy Rogers, and last year’s winner Fabiola Caraballo Quijada who is currently on the National Tour of “& Juliet.”

Tickets for the 10th annual High School Musical Theatre Awards at Proctors are on sale now through the Box Office at Proctors in person, via phone at (518) 346-6204 Tuesday-Saturday 12-6 p.m., or online by visiting atproctors.org.
