Grammy-Winning Vocal Ensemble Chanticleer to Perform at Universal Preservation Hall

Universal Preservation Hall and Saratoga Performing Arts Center partner to present the Grammy-winning vocal ensemble

SARATOGA SPRINGS (July 6) — Universal Preservation Hall welcomes the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Chanticleer for an evening of extraordinary a cappella music 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 to the Great Hall, co-presented by Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

The Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer has been hailed by the Boston Globe as “breathtaking in its accuracy of intonation, purity of blend, of color, and swagger of style.” Founded in 1978, Chanticleer has become one of the world’s most celebrated vocal ensembles. Comprised of 12 singers, the San Francisco-based ensemble has earned worldwide recognition for its seamless blend, innovative programming, and diverse repertoire spanning Renaissance music, classical masterworks, jazz, gospel, spirituals, and contemporary compositions.

Chanticleer is renowned for its rich sound and remarkable vocal range, performing music written for voices from soprano to bass without instrumental accompaniment. Their performances combine technical precision with expressive storytelling, creating an experience that is both intimate and powerful.

Chanticleer explores humanity’s eternal longing for the ideal: visions of a perfect world, perfect love, or perfect future. Spanning centuries, cultures, and styles, this program invites audiences into a luminous meditation on paradise. The program reveals a paradise longed for, imagined, and fleetingly glimpsed through song.

For nearly five decades, Chanticleer has captivated audiences with performances that showcase the full expressive potential of the human voice. The ensemble has sold more than one million recordings and continues to be recognized for its artistic excellence and commitment to expanding the choral repertoire.
