Ticket revenue and other earned income covers 62 percent of the cost of bringing Broadway and other programming to our stage, as well as performing arts education to area youth. We rely on the generosity of businesses and individuals to bridge the gap each season.
We offer terrific opportunities for local companies to partner with us. Your investment yields a wide array of marketing benefits, which can be customized to fit your needs.
We also need your personal support. Our success is not possible without the generosity of patrons like you who recognize Proctors value to the region.
New York’s Capital Region has the second highest concentration of creative jobs among metropolitan regions of similar size in the United States. And Proctors, with 190 full-time and part-time employees, is the largest performing arts organization within the area.
But it is beyond Proctors role as an employer that its biggest impact is felt in economic development. From leadership in the Fair Game Coalition and the Alliance for a Creative Economy, to teaming up with tourism and business development partners to attract film and TV production to the area, Proctors plays a key role in spurring growth in the creative economy.
Our newest endeavor is development of the 3rd floor at Proctors into a multi-use space that allow us to, among other things, launch a number of new workforce initiatives. The $2.5 million expansion will be completed in late 2017.
The renovated Proctors could have remained primarily a rental hall, the daily existence of many historic theatres. But the CEO and the board perceived the entertainment on its stages as an important part of its mission, not the sole reason for being.
Proctors has engaged Schenectady, the region and the greater arts community in many ways – big and small – this century. Much of its outreach has been in partnership with others – from the Rescue Mission to Union College to The Daily Gazette to Broadway production companies. The Ambassador programs, Empty Bowls, The Alt, and teching Broadway shows are just some of the examples of our proud civic engagement.
Proctors has one of the most expansive School of Performing Arts in Upstate New York with programming in Albany, Schenectady Saratoga, and with our On-the-Go! program, throughout the Capital Region.
As you know, public events at Proctors, UPH and theREP are postponed until further notice due to state and federal restrictions on public gatherings.
Our box office is available at (518) 346-6204 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
