The spotlight shone on the “heart” of Proctors Collaborative at annual volunteer appreciation dinner

Staff honored those who bring the magic to life year-round

SCHENECTADY—At Proctors Collaborative, the spotlight often shines on the stage with dazzling lights, powerful performances, and unforgettable moments, but beyond the spotlight is a group of individuals who make it all possible. Volunteers are the lifeblood of Proctors, Universal Preservation Hall, and Capital Repertory Theatre.

From ushering guests with a smile, to guiding school groups through our historic venues, to supporting behind-the-scenes operations, many have given years, even decades, of their time, energy, and passion to help create magical experiences for the community.

The annual volunteer appreciation dinner is a way for staff to give back and honor the individuals who support the arts. Held at Proctors, the evening brought together all the volunteers for a night of gratitude, reflection, and celebration with dinner in Robb Alley and awards presented at the MainStage.

The evening included recognition awards for long-time volunteers, including several who have served for multiple decades. Special honors were given to volunteers who went above and beyond during the 2024-25 season, contributing to successful productions, community events, and education programs.

Proctors Collaborative relies on a network of more than 600 volunteers annually. These individuals assist in a variety of roles, from hospitality and ushering to office support and outreach initiatives. Their commitment allows the organization to continue offering high-quality arts programming and educational opportunities to communities across the Capital Region. Their generosity fuels our mission, enriches our spaces, and helps keep the arts alive and thriving in the Capital Region.

We’ve seen volunteers step up on snowy winter nights and bustling festival weekends. They greet patrons like old friends, offer help with grace and humor, and ensure that every performance runs smoothly. Their dedication doesn’t go unnoticed, and it certainly doesn’t go unappreciated.
