Comedy legend Bobby Collins at Proctors
With opener Erin Harkes, 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14
SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—MARCH 8, 2019—Comedian Bobby Collins has an ability to truthfully translate the human condition. Audiences across the country relate to his comedic characterizations as he exposes the humor of day-to-day situations as well as serving up resplendent rants on world events.
Through precise physical timing and impeccable audience insight, he has honed his talents while performing from hole in the wall clubs to sold-out theatres. Through the years Collins has been nominated for a Grammy Award®, performed at The White House twice, appeared on all three Tonight shows with Johnny Carson, Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon, and is a bestselling author. Collins’ rise to top headlining comedic master was inevitable. His true dedication to his craft is what keeps his vibrant shows consistently sold out.
A native New Yorker and respected author, Collins possesses confidence and a genuine everyman likability that can only be earned.
He has toured with titans of entertainment like Frank Sinatra, Cher, Julio Iglesias and Dolly Parton. As a professional stand-up comedian, he’s worked alongside friends Chris Rock, Ray Romano and Drew Carey, as well as many others. Rosie O’Donnell specifically requested that Collins take over as host for VH-1’s Stand-Up Spotlight. He is widely regarded as a “comic’s comic.”
Collins will be joined at Proctors by opening act Erin Harkes.
Harkes, already well-known as a Capital Region musician, burst on to the comedy scene only five years ago, but her dry wit and sarcasm coupled with audience rapport has made her very successful in a short amount of time.
Harkes, who also produces her own shows on a monthly basis, featuring local and nationally touring comedians, has frequently been voted Albany’s Best Local Comedian by several local newspapers and arts and entertainment magazines.
She will return to emcee the inaugural Capital Region Thomas Edison Music Awards at Proctors, Sunday, April 14.
Tickets, $40, for Bobby Collins at the GE Theatre at Proctors, 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14 are available at the Box Office at Proctors, 432 State Street, Schenectady; by phone at 518.346.6204; and online at proctors.org.
