Collaborative School of the Arts is expanding offerings

‘Triple Threat’ classes open to all with passion for theatre

Starting in January, Collaborative Academy for Theatrical Training will be offered by the region’s premier musical theatre instructors at Proctors!

The Collaborative School of the Arts’ new program is aimed to give students the knowledge they need about their artistic craft, with some of the areas top-level professionals.

“We are offering these classes for young actors to work through perhaps some bad habits and organize their instruments to be free to sing, act and dance, without the pressure of performing,” said Kevin McGuire, director of theatrical programming.

This wonderful opportunity is open to anyone, ages 14-20, with a love and passion for the world of theatre! Training includes triple threat classes that can make a difference in future auditions.

“Training for the theater is extremely important. It is a craft. You have to have good information to support your talent,” McGuire said.

Classes include Voice/Diction with Lisa Franklin, Acting Technique with Oliver Wadsworth and Musical Theatre Dance with Freddy Ramirez.

Working with instructors who are integrated with the region’s professional theatres, have many industry connections and have mentored students to work on Broadway and beyond is an amazing way to learn about theatre performances.

“You have to learn how to sustain a performance. Vocal technique, acting technique and movement training are invaluable,” McGuire said.

Classes are twice each month to allow for flexibility with busy schedules and other activities! All classes are subsidized by the Collaborative School of the Arts to keep your training affordable. Monthly payments and tuition assistance are also available. Visit www.collaborativeschoolofthearts.org for more information.
