From avid attendee to enthusiastic subscriber

Sarah DeThorne feels “lucky” to have theatre so close to home

SCHENECTADY—Commitment can be a scary feeling, especially when you’re thinking about a whole year in advance. Sarah DeThrorne realized early on, as a Proctors subscriber, that this commitment is more of a benefit than a fear.

Knowing exactly when, where and how things are going to play out. Sneak peaks and early access. For savings and the best entertainment, becoming a subscriber was a simple decision.

DeThorne, born and raised in Schenectady, said, “it makes it very easy to know exactly where I’m going, exactly how I’m going to leave the theatre after the show and what my viewing experience is going to be like.”

Proctors subscribers know that for every KeyBank Broadway Series performance on the MainStage they will sit in their same seat and each performance they see will be at the same time on the same day of the week!

“I know when I come here on Wednesday nights and see a show, I’m leaving my world outside and get to really immerse myself in what’s happening on the stage for three hours.”

Making your commitment to the theatre makes it possible for these shows to continue to grace the MainStage and Proctors subscribers get the best seating at the best prices to an inspiring collection of touring Broadway shows.

“I’d say you don’t know what you’re missing until you give it a shot and what you’re giving to Proctors, that commitment of consistency of attending the shows, you get back in cost savings, sneak peeks and consistency in your experience at the theatre and getting to know the space really well,” DeThorne said.

Becoming a subscriber comes with a lot of benefits, but DeThorne thinks, “the best part is feeling like I have Broadway in my backyard. I grew up less than 10 minutes away and to have this quality and caliber of theatre so close to home is something I feel really lucky to have.”

“We get the latest shows from Broadway seasons coming right here to Schenectady, on top of returning favorites,” she added. “I would feel like I’m missing out if I wasn’t subscribing. This kind of puts me in a position to give everything a chance, and I never know what shows are going to become my new favorites.”

The upcoming 24/25 season features “Some Like It Hot,” “MJ,” “Parade,” “Life of Pi,” “Shucked,” “Funny Girl” and Disney’s “Beauty of the Beast.”

If that isn’t enough entertainment, subscribers get exclusive add-on opportunities for performances of “Hadestown,” “Come From Away” and “Clue” months in advance before tickets are released to the public.

DeThorne, Senior Manager of CRM (email marketing) at Squarespace, is “definitely looking forward to ‘Parade.’ It’s an epic story, a really emotional story, and the music is out of this world!”

Subscribers have the option to opt-out of any show from the series. They also get one crossvenue show at Capital Repertory Theatre in downtown Albany.

Next season, theREP and sponsor Overit produces an exciting lineup featuring “Seared,” “A Sherlock Carol,” “The Lehman Trilogy,” the world premiere of NEXT ACT! play “Rosie is Red And Everyone is Blue” and “Once.”

“Entertainment these days is so digital. It’s so edited. It can be curated to whatever the producers want it to be…. And this is live! It’s undeniable the talent right in front of you,” DeThorne shared.

“We have not looked back since we started. We don’t plan on stopping. There’s no reason not to support this caliber of art in our community. It’s incredible,” DeThorne added.
