Tarwa N-Tiniri
7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16
Universal Preservation Hall, Saratoga Springs
Morocco
In 2012, a remarkable journey began in the heart of Morocco, as childhood friends came together to form a band that would become a musical force representing the soul of the Amazigh people and the vast, rugged landscapes of the desert. This musical odyssey, known as Tarwa N-Tiniri, is a vibrant tapestry of culture, tradition, and heartfelt expression.

Mélisande
7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5
GE Theatre at Proctors, Schenectady
Beloeil (QC), Canada
Celebrating the tenth anniversary of her électrotrad project, Mélisande revisits songs from her repertoire with a traditional Québécois sound, surrounded by four seasoned musicians. Long-time accomplice Alexandre de Grosbois-Garand (former Genticorum – wooden flute, bass), Jean Desrochers (acoustic guitar), Gabriel Girouard (fiddle, foot stomping) and Éric Breton (percussions) join her to create a high-energy sound with strong vocal harmonies.

Väsen
7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12
Universal Preservation Hall, Saratoga Springs
Sweden
Väsen-Duo, Mikael Marin and Olov Johansson have, after 37 years of interaction and touring, refined their sound and their stage presence to the extent that today they are unique. With their playful and perfect interplay, they seem to defy the laws of physics in what appears to be a telepathic communication.

Baklava Express
7:30 p.m. Friday, March 13
GE Theatre at Proctors, Schenectady
Middle Eastern Fusion
Baklava Express is a NYC-based Cross-Cultural fusion project, led by Oud player and composer Josh Kaye. The band performs original music, influenced by various traditions of the Arab world, Turkey, and Armenia, as well as drawing inspiration from both the Ashkenazi and Mizrahi folk traditions. The eclectic influences and vast differences in the musical backgrounds of its members have created a group whose style is distinct, yet genre-defiant.

Yeison Landero
7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14
GE Theatre at Proctors, Schenectady
Bolívar
Yeison Landero was born in San Jacinto (Bolívar) and carries in his soul a cumbiambero heart inherited from his legendary musician grandfather, Andrés Landero. His love for his ancestral accordion and his passion for cumbia are so great that he decided to turn them into the motor of his life.
